Bringing Young Hearts for Life to Your School
It is estimated that each week sudden cardiac death claims the lives of more than 30 young adults in the United States. It may surprise you to know that the leading cause of sudden cardiac death in young adults is triggered by a hidden heart defect that is both detectable and treatable. Yet most pre-participation sports physicals do not include a
quick, noninvasive test that can signal the presence of a serious heart condition.
To date Midwest Heart Foundation, though the Young Hearts for Life® Cardiac Screening Program has screened over 62,000 students in collaboration with schools, parents and area hospitals. If you are interested in learning more about how you can bring this potentially life saving screening to your school please contact Johneen Davis, Program Director at 630.785.4366 or send an email to: jdavis@midwestheart.com.
